Those inner voices can be very loud. In fact, they can be deafening and oh so defeating as they beat us up for not getting more done, not being further ahead, and yelling at us, “what is wrong with you?”
The problem is that self-defeat is a slippery slope. Once the monkey chatter starts it is hard to stop it and down we go into the dark tunnel of not good enough and end up at never going to make it.

The mind chatter is a way to fill a void in our busy mind in that moment. Nature abhors a vacuum. When a spot is empty, it has to be filled. When are not paying attention, we default into judgement and criticism to fill the emptiness.
