Sounds Crazy, Right?
Business Success by embracing limitations? What? Imagine if by embracing your limitations/resistance you could break free and have more creative solutions than you ever thought possible. It really is true. What you resist persists. What you fight you get more of. What you don’t want in your life is the very thing you that keeps showing up – the boss that reminds you of your father/mother; the second or third girl/boy friend that cheats on you; the more you chase money, the less you have; the more you focus on your diet, the more weight you gain. In your business, the more you say you HAVE to do something, the less you do it. Procrastination steals money right out of your pocket!
Aligning with Where You Are
A key business strategy is to align with where you are in the moment. This is the key and it is the hardest and the most simple concept to master. I mean actually allowing yourself to feel the shame, regret, not good enough, humiliation that you have been running from until now. Why allow yourself to be vulnerable? Because not only have you been running from it, but also it has been running you! Yup, the feeling you are most afraid to feel is one that has been ruling your life, making decisions for you and causing all that havoc.
Are you still thinking, “What? Who are you kidding? Feel THAT? No way!” You may be thinking, “If I feel ashamed/not good enough/humiliated ( or what ever the feeling is), then I won’t make it. It will mean I am a failure/looser/no good.”What if you realized that by stopping and feeling instead meant that you would find the very solution to how to be successful, how to love yourself, how to feel at peace?
Your feelings are in fact your best friend. Feeling exactly how you feel in the moment will give you the exact information you need to know. It will tell you exactly what to do next in your business and your life. Ask, Not Good Enough, “Where am I not good enough today?” Listen to where you need to develop a new skills, to shift your attitude, to take care of business. Maybe Not Good Enough might say, “You might want to take another look at your material for your meeting today so you can feel more confident. Get those documents printed off now so you are ready at 10 for the meeting.” See how Not Good Enough is on your side? Not Good Enough is there as your best friend to give you information. It is not there to make you feel bad. You might say, “Thank you , Not Good Enough, for showing up! Getting stuff ready now and stopping and taking time to review my material will definitely make me feel good enough for that meeting!” All is takes to move forward consistently is to know how you feel in the moment. Discover what it is there to tell you. Take action!

The TED Talk Phil Hansen: Embrace the Shake is beautiful demonstrating of what is possible when we allow ourselves to be where we are. Phil was a brilliant artist. He wanted use the pointillist style of dabbing color like Monet and Manet to create his work. His shaking, caused by his neurological condition, meant he could not be precise is where the paint was placed. His wise doctor suggested that he “embrace the shake.” Watch what opened for him. See how he stepped into his limitation and exploded his creativity into infinite, rich possibilities.
